What's Pippa Wearing This Fall?

I'm always looking for style inspiration, and Pippa Middleton is one of those people that I look at and think "I could dress like that!"  Mostly its because she wears labels that I can more readily afford, but also that she takes these "ordinary" pieces and puts them together (most of the time) just right.

So what's Pippa wearing so far this fall?  Still lots of colour mixed with neutral pieces, but also some fun prints and great accesories.

White after Labour Day is no longer a fashion faux pas (who knows why it was one in the first place?).   I like the pop of colour from her red Prada bag and the red shoes.

This is a great outfit for work and take the blazer off, add some heels and it's a great outfit for going out.  The dress is from H&M.  Hmm, wonder if it is still around?  The envelope clutch is very chic too.

French Connection dress, Whistles jacket, and Modalu bag.  I wonder if Modalu gifted her the bag they named after her, cause she seems to have it in every shade!

The blouse is a bit weird (orange hearts?) but a cute outfit nonetheless.

Perfect fall outfit though I hate the belt.  Something leather with a more prominent buckle or clasp would have been a much better choice.

French Connection colour block dress. with black buckled accesories.

I love the Modalu bag in the brown croc print paired with the faded blue of her Goldsign jeans.

Great combination of warm colours with the leopard print blouse, gold flats and brown bag.

Wearing a purple Temperly frock with an adorable purple leather fascinator to a friends wedding.

Fall Love

Fall is here!  Now like most Vancouverites, I am dreading the dreary weather for the next 8 months but as a fashion lover there is nothing like a change in seasons to get inspired by your closet again.

My favourite trends for the fall are stripes, brights, lace and polka dots, as well as any mix of these trends like bright polka dots.  Some of the purchases I've made so far for fall are:

Marc by Marc Jacobs Francesca tote in black.
Purple printed ombre dress from my favourite Canadian retailer RW & Co
Polka dotted scarf I got at Winners (the Canadian version of Marshalls) and cobalt blue tee again from RW & Co.
Cozy striped tee from Banana Republic that I know I will wear to bits this fall.

Pippa's First Fashion Miscue

I think Pippa Middleton has great style, but it is nice to know she's actually still human and makes mistakes in her fashion choices.  She's been going hard at London Fashion Week over the last few days and was in the front row at Temperly in this fan printed silk dress:

Simply put, this outfit does not work.  The print is odd, the colour combination is unflattering, the material looks cheap and even the shoes and bag do nothing to redeem this outfit.

I am slightly giddy at this sight:  Pippa is not perfect!!

Emmys 2011

The Emmys wrapped up a few hours ago and now the winners & nominees can let loose while bloggers like me can commence their analysis of the red carpet fashion.  Sometimes the red carpets of these types of awards shows can be disappointing, especially when everyone looks the same or wears one neutral colour.

The Emmys 2011 red carpet was the exception.  There was lots of blue, red, & purple plus lots of lace, and long sleeve gowns...tons of variety to keep it interesting.

Here are my favourites of the night:

Kelly Osbourne in J. Mendel.  She looked stunning.

Aleksa Palladino in a gorgeous one shoulder  Pamella Roland

Christina Hendricks is my hero.  She has a bombshell body in a sea of skeletal starlets, and she's not afraid to show it off.  I wish she had chosen something with colour, but nonetheless she looks fabulous in this Johanna Johnson gown.

Cobie Smulders is from Vancouver and almost gets no red carpet press, so I had to include her in my favourite looks of the night.  She earned it though...she looks so pretty in this Alberta Ferretti.

I adore Emily Blunt, because she's an incredible actress, not to mention a great dresser.  Love this navy Elie Saab on her, though she might be getting into a style rut.  I feel like I've seen her in something so similar before.

Another Elie Saab creation, this time worn by Evan Rachel Wood.

I still can't decide if I love or hate this dress, but I do find it intriguing.  Gwyneth Paltrow in Emilio Pucci.

Emmy host Jane Lynch in David Meister.  Simple but has some pop with the great shade of burgundy.

Julia Stiles (she still acts? really?) pulls off this body hugging Georges Hobeika.

Kate Winslet was a bit safe in this red Elie Saab, but I love her too much to leave her off my list of best dressed.

Kerry Washington in my favourite look of the night, by Zuhair Murad.  She looks amazing!

Minka Kelly in Christian Dior.  A little demure for Esquire's sexiest woman alive, but it is a gorgeous dress.

Sofia Vergara in a very sexy but ladylike Vera Wang.  What a great colour but can't name the shade of pink this is...honeysuckle maybe?

New York Fashion Week - Spring 2012

Some of my favourite looks from NYFW Spring 2012.   Looking forward to spring and hoping it comes very very soon...!

White hot at Christian Siriano

Yellow was THE colour presented at many shows, including Christian Siriano

Funky prints at Donna Karan
Loads of colour at L.A.M.B.

Cute bathing suit at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Gorgeous dresses in all sorts of colours at Oscar De La Renta.  The pink one is to die for.

Turquoise gown at Rachael Roy

A bit of seventies chic at Rachel Zoe

Pale colours at Ralph Lauren, but plenty of glamour!  Love the pink python with mother of pearl heels.

A bit more ready to wear at Rebecca Minkoff

Cute pieces that could also work in "real" life at Jason Wu.

I truly adore this Monique Lhullier dress.

More Monique Lhullier.  Black & red never looked more modern yet feminine together.

If I had a red carpet to walk down, this would be the dress I'd be in.   Another Monique L.

Purple reigned at Prabal Gurung.

Fun summer print at Tommy Hilfiger

Polka dots at Tory Burch

Tangerine was the shade du jour at Victoria Beckham

And last but not least, the masterful artistry of Zac Posen.  He makes every season look so pretty but so wearable.
